The 2025 film “Hamnet” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on March 3rd via Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Chloé Zhao directed, executive-produced, and co-wrote the screenplay for the motion picture. The movie is based on the novel (of the same title) written by Maggie O’Farrell. O’Farrell also actually co-wrote the script. Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes both served as producers. The movie starred Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. Its supporting cast included Justine Mitchell, Emily Watson, David Wilmot, James Lintern, Joe Alwyn, Zac Wishart, and Freya Hannan-Mills. It’s worth noting that this is “Certified Fresh” (by critics) and “Verified Hot” (by audiences) on Rotten Tomatoes.
UPDATED: The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray have now been detailed. It will include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-100 disc. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound, on a BD-50 disc.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come as a 2-disc “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart included. Both releases will feature a digital code (copy) of the film compatible with Movies Anywhere.

Monty Python’s Life of Brian Criterion 4K in April

The 1979 film “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” will be released on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray via The Criterion Collection on April 14th.
Terry Jones directed the film. It starred the Monty Python comedy troupe, which included Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin.
The movie has received a 4K digital restoration, supervised by Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 and 5.1 surround sound mixes. Tech specs for the Blu-ray version include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, as well as DTS-HD MA 2.0 and 5.1 surround sound.
The 4K release, just like the Blu-ray release, will arrive as a 2-disc set with a [bonus] Blu-ray Disc accommodating only the special features. NOTE: It does NOT include an HD version of the film on said disc; just extras.

The 1987 film Innerspace limited edition 4K in April

The 1987 sci-fi/comedy “Innerspace” will get both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Limited Edition releases on April 28th via Arrow Video. Each release will be distributed stateside by MVD Entertainment Group.
Joe Dante directed the movie, which Steven Spielberg produced. It starred Dennis Quaid, Martin Short, and Meg Ryan. The supporting cast included Kevin McCarthy, Fiona Lewis, Vernon Wells, Robert Picardo, Wendy Schaal, Harold Sylvester, and Henry Gibson.
It has received a new restoration from the original 35mm negative (by Arrow Films), approved by director Joe Dante. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with Dolby Atmos, as well as lossless 2.0 stereo, and a 4.0 from the 70mm 6-track mix. Tech specs for the Blu-ray version include a 1080p HD video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio along with Dolby Atmos, as well as both lossless 2.0 and 4.0 sound mixes.

Throw Momma From the Train is coming to 4K in April

The 1987 dark comedy “Throw Momma From the Train” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray on April 28th via KL Studio Classics (Kino Lorber).
Danny DeVito directed and starred in the movie. It co-starred Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner, Kim Greist, and Anne Ramsey. On a related note, Anne Ramsey received an Academy Award nomination for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” in the film, back in 1988.
This comes from a new master from a 4K scan of the 35mm original camera negative. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision (HDR10-compatible) high dynamic range, along with lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and 2.0 audio on a BD-100 disc. Tom Gormican directed and co-wrote the movie, based on the 1997 film of the same title. It stars Paul Rudd and Jack Black. The supporting cast includes Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello.
