The 1989 animated film “The Little Mermaid” is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and getting a new Blu-ray Disc release on February 26th, via Disney. The film, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, won a total of 2 Oscars (Academy Awards) for best music original song and best music original score. It’s also celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
The 4K UHD Blu-ray tech specs come with 2160p video presented in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The Blu-ray re-release will come with 1080p video presented in the 1.78:1 aspect and DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound. Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray included, the Blu-ray getting a DVD included, and both featuring a Digital Copy of the film. The 4K is not yet available to pre-order over at Amazon yet, but the Blu-ray Disc is – perhaps mislabeled (judging from price). Stay tuned for an update on that. You can however find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available to pre-order over at Best Buy.
It is also known that retailer Best Buy will be getting an Exclusive Steelbook 4K release, which you can already pre-order. Bonus materials set to be included on the 4K and new Blu-ray release are listed below.

The 1978 Robert Zemeckis directed film “I Wanna Hold Your Hand“ is finally getting a Blu-ray Disc release on March 26th, via The Criterion Collection. The film, co-wrote by Bob Gale and produced by Steven Spielberg, featured a story involving teenagers traveling to see the legendary performance by The Beatles on “The Ed Sullivan Show” taping. The cast included Nancy Allen, Bobby Di Cicco, Marc McClure, Susan Kendall Newman, Theresa Saldana, Wendie Jo Sperber, and Eddie Deezen.
The film has received a new 4K restoration, that was approved by both the director (Zemeckis) and co-writer (Bob Gale). Tech specs include 1080p in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound. The title on Blu-ray is available to pre-order now over at Amazon. Bonus materials (and specific details regarding the restoration) are listed below.
The 2018 film “Robin Hood” starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx is coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 19th, via Lionsgate. The film, directed by Otto Bathurst, co-stars Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Jamie Dornan, and Tim Minchin.
Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include 2160p video presented in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The technical specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p video presented in the 2.40:1 aspect and Dolby Atmos sound, as well. Both release will come in the form of “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray getting a DVD, and each getting a Digital Copy of the film included.
