King Richard with Will Smith comes to 4K and Blu-ray

The 2021 film “King Richard” is officially coming to both 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on February 8th, 2022 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green & based on a true story, stars Will Smith, Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Bernthal, Saniyya Sidney, and Demi Singleton.  It is most certainly worth noting, that at the time of writing, this film is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

The tech specs for the 4K include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound.  The 4K UHD Blu-ray release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning it will include its Blu-ray counterpart.  Both releases will include a digital code (copy) of the film which is compatible with Movies Anywhere.  You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray and the Blu-ray both available for preorder over at Amazon.  The bonus materials set to be included with the releases are listed below.

The 2000 film “The Legend of Bagger Vance” will be finally making its debut to the Blu-ray Disc format on May 25th, via Paramount Home Entertainment, according to retailers. The film, directed by Robert Redford, starred Will Smith, Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, and Jack Lemmon as the narrator. Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD presentation in the original 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Yes, no lossless surround sound mix will be found on this release according to the back package art. You can now find the Blu-ray listed for preorder over at Amazon. “Bad Boys For Life” on 4K and Blu-ray in April

The 2020 sequel “Bad Boys For Life” sure seems to be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on April 21st, via Sony, according to multiple retailer listings. The film, directed by Michael Bay, stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nuñez, Kate del Castillo, Nicky Jam, DJ Khaled, and Joe Pantoliano. The tech specs for the 4K and Blu-ray releases have not yet been detailed and bonus materials have not yet been announced but stay tuned for an update once the title gets officially announced, likely this week. The releases will both come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that the 4K will include the Blu-ray, the Blu-ray will include the DVD, and each comes with a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the film on 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon as well as retailers Best Buy and Target. Speaking of those retailers, each will be getting its own exclusive release of the film. The film, co-directed by Nick Bruno & Troy Quane, featured the voice talents Will Smith, Tom Holland, Reba McEntire, Rashida Jones, Masi Oka, Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, and DJ Khaled. At the time of writing, this carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. The 2019 Ang Lee directed Action/Sci-Fi film “Gemini Man” starring Will Smith is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc on January 14th, 2020 via Paramount. The film co-stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong. Tech specs for the 4K release include HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range at 60 frames per second in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Atmos sound. NOTE: This is the first release to feature Dolby Vision at 60fps, versus the traditional 24fps. Tech specs for the Blu-ray have not yet been detailed but stay tuned for an update. “Bad Boys I & II” 4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook Exclusive coming to Best Buy

Retailer Best Buy is getting an exclusive Steelbook for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release of Michael Bay films “Bad Boys I & II” on September 4th via Sony. If you’re looking for more info on the 4K release of these films, refer back to what I had reported near the end of May. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include full 2160p video with HDR10 type High Dynamic Range, said to be fully restored with Dolby Atmos sound for both films.

“Bad Boys” 1 & 2 Collection comes to 4K UHD Blu-ray in September

Sony Pictures today has officially announced plans to bring the two Michael Bay directed films “Bad Boys” and “Bad Boys II” bundled together in a “Bad Boys I & II Collection” to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 4th. The films both starred Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The tech specs include fully restored video in 4K with HDR10 High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. The box set does include Blu-ray Discs of both of the films as well. Bonus materials will be just those ported over from the Blu-ray.
