2011 film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy on 4K in February

The 2011 film adaptation of “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” starring Gary Oldman is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 22nd, 2022 via KL Studio Classics. The film, directed by Tomas Alfredson, co-starred Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, and John Hurt. It is most certainly worth noting that, aside from its three Academy Award nominations, this film was originally very well-received by critics. In fact, still to this date and at the time of writing, this still carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. However, it doesn’t need that badge stuck on the cover art, now, does it? Classy, Kino Lorber.

The movie has received a new 4K restoration, quoted below.

“New HDR Restoration by StudioCanal from the Original 4K DSM – Approved by Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema”

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range along with a 5.1 lossless surround sound and 2.0 Stereo sound mix, in a lossless form as well, on a BD-100 disc. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. Sam Mendes film “1917” on Blu-ray and 4K March

The 2019 Sam Mendes directed Academy Award-winning film “1917” is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc and 4K UHD Blu-ray on March 24th, via Universal. The film, nominated for a total of 10 and winner of 3 Oscars, starred Dean-Charles ChapmanGeorge MacKayDaniel Mays, Andrew Scott, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Richard Madden, and Benedict Cumberbatch. This film was very well-received by both critics and moviegoers as, at the time of writing, it carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE: This title has, as of today (2/21), been officially announced by Universal. The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray includes 2160p video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio, on a BD-100, in HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range with Dolby Atmos sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray include 1080p HD video in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio, on a BD-50, with Dolby Atmos sound. The bonus materials set to be included are listed below.

DC film Shazam! is coming to 4K and Blu-ray in July

The 2019 DC film “Shazam!” starring Zachary Levi is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray format, Blu-ray Disc, and Blu-ray 3D formats on July 16th via Warner, according to an early alert to retailers. The film, based on the DC comics character and directed by David F. Sandberg, co-starred Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Djimon Hounsou, and Meagan Good. The film has received much critic-acclaim during its theatrical run, in fact, it is “Certified Fresh” over at Rotten Tomatoes.

UPDATE: Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos sound. Tech specs for the Blu-ray release(s) include 1080p video and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround. All three releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting a Blu-ray, the Blu-ray will be getting a DVD, the Blu-ray 3D will be getting standard 2D Blu-ray, and a digital copy of the film will be included on each. NOTE: The Blu-ray 3D release is listed to be coming stateside directly over at Warner’s WBShop and in the UK over at retailer Zavvi. There’s no word yet if it will be coming to other retailers stateside, as it doesn’t have a listing over at Amazon or at any other retailers.

2010 “Robin Hood” starring Russell Crowe is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in September

The 2010 Ridley Scott directed film adaptation of “Robin Hood” starring Russell Crowe is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 11th via Universal. The release will come with an UNRATED Director’s Cut (156 min) of the film, as well as the Theatrical cut (141 min). Tech specs for the release include full 2160p 4K in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 High Dynamic Range and DTS:X sound. This will come in the form of a “combo pack” release with a Blu-ray Disc and Digital Copy of the film included. Bonus materials set to be included on Blu-ray of the release are listed below.
