Bram Stoker’s Dracula gets 4K anniversary SteelBook

The 1992 film Bram Stoker’s Dracula will be officially getting a “25th Anniversary Edition” 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on October 4th via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.  The film, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, starred Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, and Keanu Reeves.

This new 4K SteelBook release will feature some new extras as well as Dolby Vision for the first time, unlike the previous [debut] 2017 4K UHD Blu-ray release.  That being said, tech specs for the release include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range along with Dolby Atmos as well as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo lossless sound mixes.  It will come in the form of a “combo pack” with its Blu-ray Disc counterpart along with a digital code (copy) of the film.

2011 film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy on 4K in February

The 2011 film adaptation of “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” starring Gary Oldman is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on February 22nd, 2022 via KL Studio Classics. The film, directed by Tomas Alfredson, co-starred Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, and John Hurt. It is most certainly worth noting that, aside from its three Academy Award nominations, this film was originally very well-received by critics. In fact, still to this date and at the time of writing, this still carries a “Certified Fresh” rating over at Rotten Tomatoes. However, it doesn’t need that badge stuck on the cover art, now, does it? Classy, Kino Lorber.

The movie has received a new 4K restoration, quoted below.

“New HDR Restoration by StudioCanal from the Original 4K DSM – Approved by Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema”

The tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range along with a 5.1 lossless surround sound and 2.0 Stereo sound mix, in a lossless form as well, on a BD-100 disc. The 4K UHD Blu-ray will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray available for preorder over at Amazon. The 1994 Luc Besson film Leon: The Professional is officially getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook release on December 1st, in a limited edition from Sony. The film, written & directed by Luc Besson, featured a cast of Jean RenoGary Oldman, and Natalie Portman. The tech specs for the release include a 2160p 4K presentation in the (OAR) 2.39:1 original aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound — Dolby TrueHD 7.1 compatible. Both the film’s theatrical and extended versions are included. The release will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that it will include its Blu-ray Disc counterpart and a digital code (copy) of the film. You can now find the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook available for preorder over at Amazon and Target. 2001 film “Hannibal” with Anthony Hopkins on 4K UHD Blu-ray in late April

The 2011 Ridley Scott directed film “Hannibal” starring Anthony Hopkins is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc (Special Edition) on April 30th, via Kino Lorber Studio Classics. This marks the first 4K release for Kino Lorber. The film co-starred Julianne Moore, Gary OldmanRay LiottaFrankie Faison, Giancarlo Giannini, Francesca Neri, and Zeljko Ivanek.

Kino Lorber claims this has received a brand new 4K restoration in HDR and SDR, which was color graded by cinematographer John Mathieson.

UPDATE: Tech specs for the 4K release include 2160p video with Dolby Vision and HDR10 forms of High Dynamic Range with DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio and a lossless 2.0 Stereo mix in terms of sound. The tech specs for the Blu-ray included 1080p video with the same DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio and lossless 2.0 Stereo mix.
