The Matrix Resurrections on 4K and Blu-ray in March

The 2021 sequel “The Matrix Resurrections” is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray on March 8th via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.  The film, co-written and directed by Lana Wachowski, stars Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith.

The tech specs for the 4K release include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.  Tech specs for the Blu-ray include a 1080p HD video presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect and Dolby Atmos sound.  Both releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” with the 4K getting its Blu-ray counterpart, the Blu-ray getting its DVD counterpart, and each version including a digital code (copy) of the film.

Retailer Best Buy will be exclusively getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook (pictured below) also now available for preorder.

Retailer Target will be getting an exclusive Blu-ray with alternate cover art (pictured below) which is now available to preorder.

1999 film 200 Cigarettes on Blu-ray in February

The 1999 film 200 Cigarettes is officially coming to Blu-ray Disc on February 15th via Paramount Home Entertainment, as a MOD (manufactured-on-demand) release.  The film, directed by Risa Bramon Garcia, starred Ben Affleck, Casey Affleck, Dave Chappelle, Guillermo Díaz, Angela Featherstone, Janeane GarofaloGaby Hoffmann, Kate Hudson, Courtney Love, Jay Mohr, Martha Plimpton, Christina Ricci, and Paul Rudd.

The tech specs for the release include a 1080p HD video presentation (presumably in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio) and DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Stereo sound on a BD-25 disc.  It has not been clarified if these discs will be pressed or burnt but you’ll be able to preorder the Blu-ray MOD release directly via Movie Znyg. Also, you’ll be able to buy the Blu-ray over at retailer Walmart.com, where it’s now available for preorder.  No bonus materials will be included with this release.

NOTE: This will mark the debut of this film on the Blu-ray Disc format. It has never been available in HD on home video until this upcoming release.

The Addams Family 1991 film comes to 4K in November

The 1991 live-action film adaptation of The Addams Family is officially coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray on November 23rd via Paramount Home Entertainment. The film, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, starred Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christina Ricci, Jimmy Workman, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Hedaya, Elizabeth Wilson, Judith Malina, Carel Struycken, and John Franklin. The film is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 form of high dynamic range and will come with a lossless 5.1 surround sound mix — although yet to be specified. Stay tuned for a possible update on the sound details. The movie has been “newly remastered and restored under the supervision of director Barry Sonnenfeld” and will include both the original Theatrical Cut and an Extended Cut (a “never-before-seen “More Mamushka!” version, which expands the memorable dance number.”)

Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain gets a Blu-ray

The 1995 film “Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain” is finally making its Blu-ray debut on March 9th, 2021, via Mill Creek Entertainment. This will be the first time this film has been available on the Blu-ray Disc format in any region, not just in North America. The film, directed by Kevin James Dobson, starred Christina RicciAnna ChlumskyPolly Draper, Brian Kerwin, Diana ScarwidDavid Keith, Gillian Barber, and Jewel Staite. The tech specs have not yet been detailed and no word yet if the release will include bonus materials. It is known, from the artwork pictured above, that this release will feature a retro VHS style slipcover case. You can find the Blu-ray now available to preorder over at Amazon.

1998 Joe Dante film Small Soldiers on Blu-ray in February

The 1998 film “Small Soldiers” directed by Joe Dante is coming to Blu-ray Disc, for the very first time in North America, on February 2nd, 2021, via Paramount. The movie was an action, adventure, comedy that used a combination of both live-action video and CG animation. It featured a (live-action) cast of Kirsten Dunst, Gregory Smith, Jacob Smith, Phil Hartman, Wendy Schaal, David Cross, Denis Leary, and Dick Miller. The movie also featured a legendary voice cast that included Tommy Lee Jones, Frank Langella, Bruce Dern, Jim Brown, George Kennedy, Clint Walker, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Christina Ricci.

The Addams Family films on Blu-ray October

The films The Addams Family (1991) and sequel Addams Family Values (1993) will both be coming to Blu-ray Disc on October 1st via Paramount. This all is in promotion for the upcoming 2019 animated film. The two films, both directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, featured a cast of Anjelica HustonRaul JuliaChristopher Lloyd, Christina Ricci,  and Jimmy Workman. It should be stated that the first film was previously released on the Blu-ray format and will just be getting new packaging. The sequel will be available on the Blu-ray format for the very first time! There also will be a “2-Movie Collection” of both films available on Blu-ray. Tech specs for the releases include 1080p video and lossless 5.1 sound.
