The 1988 Italian film “Cinema Paradiso” is coming to Blu-ray Disc in a Special Edition and to 4K UHD Blu-ray on September 29th, via Arrow Academy (Arrow Video). The film, which won the 1990 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, was directed and co-written by Giuseppe Tornatore. Cinema Paradiso starred Philippe NoiretEnzo Cannavale, and Antonella Attili. Tech specs for the Special Edition Blu-ray include 1080p HD video and uncompressed Linear PCM 2.0 Stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes. The technical specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include 2160p video in HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of High Dynamic Range along with the same uncompressed Linear PCM 2.0 Stereo and 5.1 surround audio mixes. The Blu-ray version of the film comes with both the 124-minute theatrical version and the 174-minute Director’s Cut — on that release. Whereas, the 4K release will contain only the theatrical version on its disc and then the included Blu-ray will have the Director’s Cut (in just 1080p HD). One certainly would not go as far as to call what you get in the 4K set a “combo pack” — as it only includes one version of the film on the 4K disc and then one other version on the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray are both now available for preorder over at Amazon. Bonus materials and details regarding the releases are listed below after the break for each version.
