The 1979 Carl Reiner directed comedy “The Jerk“ starring Steve Martin is getting a “40th Anniversary Edition” Blu-ray Disc release later this year via Shout Select, but the release date has now changed to December 18th. Also, as of today we have some details regarding the release. Although tech specs have not yet been fully detailed, it is now known that this will come from a new remastered 2K video transfer. Stay tuned for further details regarding tech specs. The title is available for PRE-ORDER over at Amazon and directly via Shout! Factory. Los Angeles, CA – On December 18, 2018, Shout Select celebrates the 40^th anniversary of wacky comedy classic The Jerk with the film’s debut on Blu-ray, now remastered from a brand-new 2K scan. This release comes packed with bonus features, including new interviews with Steve Martin and Carl Reiner and with writers Michael Elias and Carl Gottlieb.

From director and comic legend Carl Reiner, The Jerk stars Steve Martin in his feature film debut alongside Bernadette Peters, Rob Reiner, Bill Macy and M. Martin stars as Navin Johnson, the adopted son of a poor black sharecropping family in Mississippi.
